Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) consists of personalized physical therapy exercises designed to tone and coordinate the muscles of the face, throat, and tongue. This therapy aims to optimize nasal breathing, chewing, and swallowing, particularly in individuals affected by mouth breathing and improper tongue posture. Such issues can negatively impact muscle function in the mouth, leading to restricted skeletal growth, poor sleep—including conditions like sleep apnea—speech difficulties, jaw pain characterized by clicking or popping, restricted tongue mobility, headaches (including migraines), facial asymmetry, neck and shoulder tension, dental problems, and complications associated with tethered oral tissues, such as tongue tie.
